The NFL has done an outstanding job of scheduling this year, including the decision to turn Thanksgiving into a triple header. But now our focus turns to College ball. Teams are still jockeying for bowl games, and Ohio State is waiting to find out who they will meet in the BCS Championship.
Today’s game between LSU and Arkansas and tomorrow night’s Game of the Week between Notre Dame and USC will go a long way to clarifying the picture.
LSU is hoping for a bowl invitation anywhere, and if nothing else, would love to upset Arkansas’ chances for an SEC conference title. Too bad LSU doesn’t have enough for the upset. And, honestly, I see this game as only a warm-up for tomorrow night’s game at the Coliseum.
The Rose Bowl is definitely the consolation prize as far as the USC Trojans are concerned. I am picking them tomorrow night over Notre Dame if they can generate the offense and Tailback C.J. Gable can successfully run on Notre Dame. USC has its fate in its own hands and a victory at the Coliseum will all but knock Michigan out of the #2 slot. It’s also a statement game for Brady Quinn. Personally, I’m giving the nod to Ohio State QB Troy Smith for the Heisman and it would take the game of his life for Quinn to change my mind.
