The Philadelphia Eagles went back into history on Sunday, using their yellow and powder blue throwback jerseys to commemorate their 75th anniversary.
These jerseys were originally worn in the franchise's inaugural season.
Before Sunday, the Frankford Yellowjackets donned the yellow and blue colors in the City of Brotherly Love, wearing them from 1924 until 1931, when they suspended operations. The Yellowjackets were able to capture the NFL Championship in 1926 wearing these colors, which are based on the colors of Philadelphia's city flag.
On Sunday, the Eagles built upon the success of the Yellowjackets and dominated the Detroit Lions by a score of 56-21.
Eagles Quarterback Donovan McNabb threw for four touchdowns and 381 yards. Brian Westbrook also helped in the offensive attack, running for 110 yards while also catching five passes for 111 receiving yards. In total, Westbrook added 3 TD's for a fantastic outing, especially considering he was listed as questionable due to a minor injury.
